According to Urbinati and Carneiro ( 2004), the release of cortisol, coming from the interrenal glands, is the primary stress response in fish, from which a series of physiological events will occur, and the release of glucose into the bloodstream stimulates the animal's reaction conditions. Transport is a stressful procedure that exposes animals to several adverse stimuli responsible for severe physiological responses (Urbinati et al., 2004). According to King ( 2009), the salmon industry in Tasmania annually displaces over 9 million Atlantic salmon juveniles from its larviculture on the mainland to the ocean fattening areas by land transport in trucks, essential for the development of the entire production chain. Transport of live fish is a common practice in fish farming for various purposes, such as reproduction, transfers to other places of cultivation, and commercialization (Braun & Nuñer, 2014).
